Several years ago I began looking for healthier recipes. I grew up in the south. If you are from the south, you know, we fry everything and consume tons of sugar drinks. I knew we were living an unhealthy lifestyle and I wanted to change that.
One of the things I began adding was more water into my everyday. There’s nothing like a tall glass of cold water on a hot, muggy southern summer day. We are especially lucky were I live. In the Memphis area, we have some of the best water in the world. It’s because of how this area was formed millions an millions of years ago. The Memphis Aquifer – also know as the Reelfoot Rift, became a reservoir for water from the Mississippi embankment.
Even though we had some of the ‘Sweetest Water and inexpensive water in the world, I was still consuming way to many sugary drinks. I wanted to get away from them. With determination, I began drinking more water, yet I found it was kinda of boring. More flavor was needed and, I began looking at infused waters.
Over the summer one year, I started looking at recipes for infused waters and quickly figured out my favorite was Grapefruit infused water. Best it was simple to make.
Grapefruit Infused Water Recipe

1 ruby red or pink grapefruit
16 oz of water
container or pitcher with a lid
–Prepare you concoction–
Dissect the grapefruit, into 1 – 2″ cubes
Place in container or pitcher, add water and cover with lid. Can be served immediately.
Serve over ice or pour in a to-go bottle and carry with you during day for a refreshing drink.
As I use up the water, I add more water to the container with grapefruit pieces. I’ve filled it back up for almost 2 weeks. Then I got scared and threw it out.. haha.
